PlanThe present study was planned tinvestigate the antibacterial activitof ethyl acetate,ethanol and hexane extracts of the fruits of Careya arborea Roxb.

MethodologyAgar diffusion assay was carried out using the extracts.

OutcomeAll the tested bacterial strains  viz., Escherichia Coli, Salmonella typhimurium, Listeria monocytogenes, Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermiswere found to be sensitive to all the 3 concentrations of ethyl acetate  and methanolic extracts of fresh and dry fruit, in ascending order.
